Incentive Ideas


Out On The Lake

  • Enjoy the thrill of trout fishing in the comfort of a fully licensed charter boat followed by a gourmet barbeque on board, which with a bit of luck will include a taste of your own catch.
  • Helicopter out over the lake and land on that flat rock where your charter boat awaits - spend the day kayaking, water skiing, jet skiing, abseiling or even caving using the main boat as your base for lunch and bar facilities etc.
  • Hike from Kinloch to Kawakawa Bay (1.5hrs) and get picked up by boat, trout fish back to Taupo enjoying lunch on the way.
  • Kayak with a guide out around Acacia Bay and Whakamoenga Pt to the famous Maori Rock Carvings.
  • Take a trip on The Barbary, a sail boat which was built in 1926 and was once owned by Errol Flynn. The Barbary has scheduled trips or one can charter.
  • 'On your marks' Row! Have a relay along the lakefront. Team race a kayak around a buoy, sail a dinghy to a marker, attempt a hole in one golf challenge and mountain bike to the pub for a jug of beer.

The RACE Experience or test your driving/bike skills!

  • Head out to Taupo Motor Sport Circuit, buckle-up and test your skills in a fully prepared race car on a real race track driving a replica of a Formula One car or be a passenger in a V8 for a hot lap! Learn how to drive with the Formula Challenge Experience Group. Hold you own Grand Prix!
  • A car rally around the lake. Stage a different activity at various points around the lake edge, with clues to the next destination. Perhaps a poker run!
  • Go 4 Wheel Biking over farm and fern clad native bush trails. Four wheel biking is an all year round activity. The wetter the better and if you do get stuck, help is right there if you need it. Other activities on site can be organised such as pulse ranger, knife throwing, clay target shooting and pistol shooting.
  • Zoom down the slopes of an active volcano on a mountain bike or bike the many scenic tracks in the region...Craters of the Moon, Spa Rd to Huka Falls to name a couple.

Taste of Art & Wine

  • Visit Lava Glass Gallery, Zea you Gallery and Kura Gallery, lunch at either Huka Vineyard Restaurant overlooking Mt Tauhara or Terraces Hotel overlooking the lake and mountains in the distance or Larte, a cafe set up in a mosaic and sculpture garden.
  • Have a cheese and wine tasting at The Merchant of Taupo.
  • Visit the Cellar Door at Huka Falls Winery and taste our Lake Taupo Pinot Noir.
  • What about the downstairs cellar at Scenic Cellars for that options game or for a tasting at the enomatic wine tasting system - 32 different wines to taste!
  • Heli-wine & cheese - your helicopter will navigate Lake Taupo's towering volcanic cliffs enroute to the hidden paradise of Omori Estate. Take a stroll and relax over a platter of warm breads and cheeses while enjoying a bottle of Omori Estate Wine.

 

Thrills On The River

  • The ultimate thrill combo, combine a scenic flight with a spin on the Hukafalls Jet. After your helicopter ride you can fly to Hukafalls Jet on the Waikato River for a thrilling jetboat ride sliding inches from the cliffs to the mighty Huka Falls. In fact, stop on the banks of the river for champagne on the ride!
  • Splash down the world famous Tongariro River on a raft with accompanying kayaks. Paddle half way in the raft, kayak the rest.  Have two or three rafts and organise a race.
  • Take the raft/fish trip and float to each pool on the river, fly fish from the bank for that huge rainbow trout.
  • Take a leisurely cruise on the Waikato River on either 'Huka Falls River Cruise Boat' up to the base of Huka Falls or on 'Waireka' an old restored riverboat up to the FullJames rapids.
  • Speed up the river on NZ Riverjet Boat to our Thermal Wonderland at Orakei Korako. Wander around this magic place and down to the Hidden Cave, back onto the jet boat.and visit The Squeeze!
  • Take a fly fishing guide and learn how to catch a trout on one of the rivers in the region.
  • Watch the Aratiatia Dam open and spill out enough water to fill a whole valley in 20 minutes and then jet boat with Rapids Jet up to the base of the valley and then down through the Fulljames Rapids...a truly exhilarating trip!

Fly There!

  • Go by helicopter to a remote western bay on Lake Taupo for a silver service meal set up on an isolated Westerm Bays beach.
  • Arrive at the Taupo Boat Harbour and board Taupo's Floatplane. The floatplane will take you for a breathtaking flight over beautiful Lake Taupo. This is the perfect way of putting this stunning area into perspective. Land on the Waikato River near The River Lodge or near Orakei Korako for a thrilling NZ Riverjet boat ride and soak in natural hot pools on the side of the river.
  • Take a scenic flight by helicopter or small plane up over the lake to Tongariro National Park and our three volcanic mountains. Get dropped off at the airport at Whakapapa for a days skiing or snowboarding.

Mountain Climbing

The Easy Way

  • Take a chairlift up to NZ's highest restaurant (2020m above sea level). Walk on an active volcano before sitting down to a champagne brunch on the restaurant's sunny deck - the views across Tongariro National Park, just breathtaking.

The Hard Way

  • In one day hike 17km on the Tongariro Alpine Trek across Mt Tongariro, one of the world's most breathtaking eco adventures.

Tee Off

  • Play golf on one of our four courses in the region. Wairakei International Golf Course features some of the greatest holes in the country with 108 bunkers! Ask for an activity on each hole - white bait fritters, champagne, left handed tee-off, fish the pond on the eigth, and more. Book out the clubrooms and make a night of it - prizes, music and exquisite cuisine.

Eat Em!

  • Huka Prawn Park is the world's only geothermal heated prawn farm, producing the Giant Malaysian Freswater Prawn.  Enjoy overlooking the Waikato River while tantalising your taste buds. Of course, prawns feature heavily on the menu with delicious platters and prawn burgers but prawn-less meals are also on offer. Prawn fishing and Hole in One Golf over the prawn ponds can be arranged. Have your group dine here in the evening....theme it?

Be Pampered

  • Head to Taupo Hot Springs Spa for a relaxing soak in the natural thermal pools and then have a soothing massage at the hands of their masseuse or a beauty treatment to make you feel really relaxed and pampered.

Farm Theme Evening

  • Dine on location at Kitenui Deer Farm. The function room is currently themed as a deer hunting room, but use your imagination...you can have dinner under the stars or in a forest, on an airstrip....the world is your oyster at this fantastic venue. We can even transport you there on a stock truck having draughted you on to the truck with a hunt-away sheep dog.

Culture and History

  • Experience a genuine Maori welcome "powhiri" at Wairakei Terraces amongst the natural thermal steam created from the Pink and Whie Silica Terraces, Taupo. This is spectacular with a capital "S"! And you can ask for a genuine Maori 'hangi' to be put down before your eyes - a true feast with entertainment you won't believe.
  • Take a personalised tour of secluded "locals only" places with an authentic Maori guiding service. Visit a marae.  Learn about traditional curative and edible plants, trees used for construction of canoes and weaponry, traditional food sources and more.

Take The Jump
