The Lake Taupo region is full of funky bars. Choose an Irish bar or an English pub in the heart of Taupo that serves local, english and irish beer, and has a pub grub menu to choose from. There is a sports bar, an upmarket lounge bar and a trendy boutique bar that will have resonably priced food and drink. There is a nightclub where you can boogie the night away to live music with a huge mass dancing to the beat. Its a fun town so sample the beat and the rhythm.
The hostels have bars and sometimes food, where you can meet backpackers before you go to town to experience a fun night in the bars and clubs with the locals or other tourists.
